Alone with God

Father in Jesus Name I thank You for Your grace and Your Love and Your Word. Teach me about You through this and may I be receptive, remove distractions and let me notice distractions more so I can fight them. Let me love You more and let me sense Your love and presence in a deeper way in my life in Jesus Name I thank You and pray this prayer! AMEN!

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.” ~ Genesis 32:24

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” ~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Alone, hmmm… Nobody really wants to be alone.  That’s one word that we can all cringe at and desire to run from.  But in the process of my short time in walking with God I have realized that there is something about being alone with God.  I’ve been led by His Spirit to tell you what He told me.  Please listen closely; your answer might be here.

When you want to get to know someone you want to be alone.  Sure passing notes in between classes and study hall was fun, the text messages, phone calls, emails, movies and dates are fun but when you really want to get to know a person for who they are, you get alone with that person.

This is what God was doing with Jacob.  Jacob had lived his life his own way.  Jacob did what he wanted to do and all God wanted from him was him.  God wanted his time, his loyalty and his love.  The scripture says that Jacob was left alone and he wrestled with a man.  Theologians call this event a Christophany.  A Christophany was an appearance of a pre-incarnate Jesus Christ.  In other words, it was Jesus that Jacob was wrestling with.  We see that because in verse 30 Jacob claims that he saw God face to face.

You can be married and be alone! Being alone with God isn’t a physical placement it’s a spiritual condition.

When God really is about to do something in your life, He makes sure you are alone.
Let’s take a look at the track record of God.  Let’s journey into the pages of the Word of God that live and abide forever.  How many people know the Word of God can’t change, won’t change, never should change and will never come back without making its purposed effect on someone’s life.
Moses had a drastic encounter with God, a life changing encounter with God as he was on the backside of a desert shepherding sheep.  God shows up when we are alone.

David was anointed in the middle of his brothers who rejected him and was called by God to be the next King of Israel and then was sent back out to shepherd sheep. God’s plans are set in motion through aloneness with Him.

Jesus, our Savior, our Lord, our Redeemer, our Healer and Provider was led by the Holy Spirit right after His approval from the Father and His baptism to the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  God prepares us for service through our alone time with Him.

Elijah was a powerful man of God who called down fire from Heaven and proved that God is who God says He is, God! Elijah after a huge victory is sitting under a juniper tree and then ends up alone in a cave.  There’s something about being alone with God.

Jonah ran from The LORD because he had prejudices against another nation being called by God to salvation.  Jonah was on a ship going to Tarshish and was thrown overboard after the Sailors on the ship realized that he was the reason for a huge storm that was hindering their progress.  Jonah was tossed overboard and then swallowed up by what the Bible calls a “great fish.”  God repents of judgment that was pronounced on us in the middle of alone time with Him.  God saves us when we are alone.  There’s something about being alone with God.  Your salvation is not determined on who is around you or who is with you. It’s all about you and God, alone. Nobody else is needed to validate your salvation by grace through faith to Jesus Christ.

Joseph was one of the most neglected of people in the entire Bible.  Joseph received a dream from God and was shoved to the side by his brothers and they threw him in a pit.  He was alone in a pit.  God prepares us for our purpose when we are alone with Him.  Joseph later on was elevated to be over an Egyptian Master’s house by the name of Potiphar and his wife loved the idea of being with Joseph.  Joseph ran from the temptation of adultery and was racially profiled and lied about, thrown in jail and was alone again with God. God prepares us for life’s trials through being alone with Him.
The Word of God says we are comforted to comfort.

Joseph after all the ridicule, lies, slander, framing and betrayal in a prison was still compassionate and kind enough to look at someone else’s face and realize he was down and desired to help him out for Gods glory. The result of being alone with God is the compassion that flows from His heart to yours to other peoples.

David, we all know David “The LORD is MY shepherd.” After he was rejected by his brothers God used him to write the Psalms we all know and love.  “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.” “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”  “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” “Delight yourself in The LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”  “Commit your ways unto Him and He shall bring it to pass.” “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” The result of being alone with God is to enable you to encourage people once in a lifetime, for a lifetime.

Jonah after realizing that being alone with God wasn’t so bad said something that we so desperately need to hear in the world “Salvation is of The LORD.”  The result of being alone with God is having a tremendous passion to reach people for Jesus Christ, to tell them that salvation alone comes from Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The purpose of being alone is supernatural growth in Christ

Moses was alone with God and received the Law to help over two million Israelites in the wilderness.  Moses was led by God through his seasonal aloneness with God to sustain a nation that would later bring forth the Messiah to the world to change the world and bring real, genuine love and salvation to the world.  The result of being alone with God is having the capability to lead those around you, to help guide and govern their attitudes, actions and ideas.

Elijah after the aloneness was able to show young Elisha how to fulfill and produce results in the prophetic ministry that helped Israel continue to hear from The LORD which later produced other prophets, you know the ones that preached things like “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and by His strips we are healed.” “But they that wait upon The LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, they shall walk, and not faint.” “For I know the plans I have towards you saith The LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  God strengthens, encourages, heals and restores you when you are alone with Him.
Without Jesus being alone with the Father in prayer and tempted by the enemy we would never have known that victory in life is possible. We would have never received the ability to have Eternal life for free without Him being alone with the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane.  Jesus was alone for a purpose!

And Jesus, my Lord and Savior and hopefully your Lord and Savior.  What can I say about Him?  There’s too much to say.  Without Jesus being alone and tempted of by the devil, we wouldn’t know that as a Christian through the power of the Holy Spirit we can be victorious.  Without Jesus being in the Garden of Gethsemane with The Father we never would have heard about all of the prophecies that came to pass when He was crucified dead and buried for our sins.  We never would have had the opportunity to come to Jesus Christ for soul salvation. We never would have had the grand opportunity of a lifetime to have God search for us and bring us back to Him.  We never would have been able to call God our Father and be accepted willfully into the family of God.  Jesus was alone for a purpose.  God prepares us to be loved, accept love and give love selflessly and sacrificially through being alone with Him!

Many of us feel insignificant.  We feel as though no one will listen to us, but we are comforted to comfort and God wants those people He sends and places around us to hear but we have to speak.
Many of you are reservoirs of wisdom and God is saying tell someone about me, about what I did for you when you were younger about how I kept you alive all the years of your life.

People need our comfort because they need our God!

Father I thank You for Your Word. I thank You that You have a plan for my life and it's coming to pass as this is being prayed. Lord, teach me Your ways and help me to be obedient to Your will and ways, even when I wonder why or how to make it. Teach me so I can teach others. Use the time I have right now possibly even alone to benefit the world because of the Spirit living in and through me. I thank You for this in Jesus Name! AMEN!

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?

If not, here’s what you are missing.  You are missing satisfaction in life. You are missing the blessings of God in and through your life. You are missing the blessing of being able to know God intimately and know Him for the pardoning of your sins.  You are missing the blessing of being able to serve God and impact your community and the world around you.  You are missing the beauty of God revealing Himself to you and helping you in your daily life. You are missing out on such great things.  God wants the best for you and His best starts with you admitting you have sinned against Him and that you need a Savior for your sins, that Savior is Jesus Christ.  Like me, will you rebel against God’s plan and will for your life? Will you submit to Gods will so He can save you and redirect your life?  God can get you off any drugs, any habit or addiction, nothing can stop God and God will stop at nothing to stop it from stopping you from reaching your full potential for Christ.  God loves you so much, why wait and why reject His message.  If you want to be saved for-real, just pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I have sinned, I am a sinner, I have sinned and will sin, but I have sinned only against You. Lord, I am in need of Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and You rose from the dead. I believe You are God and that You have the capability to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from my unrighteousness. Lord, please save me and draw me to You by Your grace. Fill me with Your Spirit. Baptize me in Your power and help me to live a lifestyle that is pleasing in Your sight. Give me victory over temptation, Lord, strengthen me to be all who You want me to be please in Jesus Name! AMEN!”

"God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life." ~ John 3:16 (God’s Word Translation)

"That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be [disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ~ Romans 10:9-13 (NASB)
